Man buys truck for $75 bucks and drove it daily for 38 years & counting.

I can only hope to get emotionally attached to a vehicle enough that I would keep it forever. I’m a total gearhead but for me cars are just machines I’ve never really been attached to anything I’ve owned. I think it’s because I’ve never really kept anything for long periods of time.

I think the longest I’ve owned a car was 3 years.

I’m 32 years old and I’ve owned 3 cars up to this point. I still own two of them, I’m probably going to get rid of the Jag soon however I have no intention of selling my Land Rover. His name is Dugga Boy and he likes mud.

You only get emotionally attached to the right car. I’ve been emotionally attached to my MR2 pretty much since I bought it. I named it before the first gas station. I was attached to my Elantra and have been regretting getting rid of it every day since I sold it. Most of my cars have been just machines, but the special ones stand out.

I understand. I think it’s only because I’ve never had one long enough to miss it.

I plan on keeping my old truck for a long time so I think that might be the one to get me.

I bought my 2011 Sierra brand new. I plan on driving it until I die. Virtually everything on it can be maintained or replaced. It may end up like Theseus’ ship, but why spend another $30k on another truck when the new version has the same utility as my existing truck?

Now, I will get a more practical DD at some point, but I will never sell the truck.

I probably get it from my dad, he bought a 1964 Land Rover Series IIa 109” from a scrap yard in 1986 and rebuilt it from the ground up. When we moved to America 1999, he paid to have it shipped with us and he still owns it.

That’s a great story. My old man simply drove beaters all the time so I definitely didn’t get that from him that’s for sure.

I was like that when I bought my ‘08 Ram Megacab. It was my first ever new vehicle and I treated it like gold but then life got in the way and I had to get rid of it. Since then cars are just machines to me nothing but a 4 fucking wheels and a seat.
